Step 1 in every protocol

Every SkinQ Rx protocol begins with a clean, pH-correct skin surface. Actives — serums, AHAs, retinoids — are pH-dependent. A high-pH cleanser disrupts the acid mantle and reduces the efficacy of every step that follows.

Indication

Daily pH-balanced cleansing for all skin types — including sensitive, oily, post-procedure, and Fitzpatrick III–VI Indian skin. The foundation step of every SkinQ Rx protocol — sets pH baseline for downstream actives. Indicated AM and PM. Safe from Day 1 post-laser, post-peel, and post-microneedling.

Mechanism of Action

A gentle, pH-balanced cleansing system — non-stripping surfactants paired with skin-conditioning actives that support the barrier rather than compromise it.

pH 5.22–5.71 — matches the skin's natural acid mantle. Most cleansers run at pH 8–10, which strips the acid mantle and reduces the efficacy of every pH-dependent active downstream (Vitamin C, AHA, retinol).
Niacinamide — stimulates ceramide and fatty acid biosynthesis. Reinforces the lipid matrix that surfactant contact temporarily disrupts. Drives the +1.1% Tewameter improvement.
Evening Primrose Oil (GLA-rich) — directly replenishes intercellular lipid content. Reduces transient erythema. Maintains post-cleanse comfort.
Glycerin (pharma-grade) — humectant draws water into stratum corneum. Counteracts cleansing-induced water loss. Skin remains non-tight after rinsing.
Dosage & Administration
  1. Wet face thoroughly with lukewarm water — avoid hot water which disrupts the acid mantle.
  2. Dispense 1–2 pumps and lather gently between palms.
  3. Massage over face and neck in gentle circular motions for 30–60 seconds.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with cool water.
  5. Pat dry with clean towel — do not rub. Proceed immediately with prescribed protocol.
Frequency

AM + PM Daily. First step of every routine. Formulated for complete single-cleanse efficacy. For patients on SPF or makeup, double-cleanse PM with Skin Balance Micellar Water followed by Gentle Cleanser.

Protocol Position

Step 1 in all 5 protocols (see "Step 1 in Every Protocol" section above). Actives are pH-dependent — a high-pH cleanser disrupts the acid mantle and reduces the efficacy of every step that follows.

Post-Procedure Use

Safe from Day 1 post-procedure. The pH 5.22–5.71 formulation does not exacerbate post-laser erythema or increase TEWL. Preferred over water-only cleansing for maintaining barrier integrity in compromised skin.
